Live: Singapore Arts Festival Presents: Atsuhiro Ito (Japan) ft. Zai Kuning & The Analog Girl

A meeting of musical minds with a stunning visual twist, this gig features Japanese contemporary artist Atsuhiro Ito, sound artist Zai Kuning and laptop rock pioneer The Analog Girl in an intense, electrifying conversation.

The stars of this unusual club gig manipulate musicality and digital technology to achieve a hypnotic soundscape and visual canvas, and look set to push the boundaries of live performance to a whole new level. This performance forefronts the performers’ mastery of new technologies which are increasingly prevalent and ubiquitous among the urban generation.

Atsuhiro Ito first embarked on a career as a visual artist in the late 1980s, before developing sound performances in art exhibitions. His music device, the OPTRON, is an original invention made from fluorescent tubes. Over the years, Ito has continued to refine this instrument and to approach sound and music from a contemporary art-based perspective. For a look at his amazing musical invention and performance:

Since 1994, New York University's Tisch School of the Arts has hosted the Next Reel International Film Festival. This biennial event is the oldest festival of its kind in the United States, whose mission is to feature the best films of emerging young filmmakers from around the world. Next Reel Film Festival 2010 is held in Singapore, hosted by Tisch Asia with screenings at The Cathay.

The Analog Girl will be performing her long-awaited debut show in Berlin, Germany at the Worldtronics Festival at the prestigious Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt and it is looking to be her most spectacular to date. Armed with a new array of instruments including the Tenori-On and Apple iPhone, The Analog Girl will be performing live both signature glitch pop songs from her first 2 albums, as well as, hot new tracks from her upcoming release that is taking on a whole new exciting direction. Come experience it yourselves. East-Asian Electropop at Worldtronics Berlin is curated by Henry Foundation of Goodnight Electric fame and also features performances from dance pop synth duo IGO from Shanghai and reggae hip hop soundsystem Dubyouth from Jogja Indonesia. Worldtronics is a 4-day festival starting November 25 2009. The East-Asian Electropop concert takes place on November 27 2009.

Live At Supperclub | Singapore

ISEA 2008 at Post-Museum | Singapore

In conjunction with the International Symposium Of Electronic Arts 2008 held in Singapore, Silentt and Post-Museum present Electricity, a 3-day event featuring the cutting edge in electronic music including my friends Amberhaze (July 25) and Sonicbrat (July 26). The Analog Girl plays a rare Nintendo DS-only set on Saturday July 26 at 9:15pm. Come earlier for dinner at Food#03, Post-Museum's vegetarian cafe - the brick walls are killer so is the tempeh burger and museum house pour!

RSC Block Party | Singapore

Singapore’s first block party to promote eco-awareness! It’s free! Come catch your favourite local bands perform. September 8 - Join us at Raffles Place Park (at Raffles Place MRT) for a sonic experience like no other. August 17 - This summer, The Analog Girl will be performing an intimate set at Cafe Pause in Tokyo. This will be The Analog Girl's very first show in Tokyo. She previously played in Sapporo, Japan at Soso Cafe.

The Analog Girl has produced a soundtrack for the magical 1926 German silent animated film The Adventures Of Prince Achmed, which will be performed 'live' on Saturday March 24 2007 at the National Museum during its screening at the theatre. This is an invite-only event which was top secret that I didn't even know about when I was booked for the show until I got to KL! Following Sonic Fringe, The Analog Girl will present a special showcase of photographs and live gameboy music improvisation at Rojak at 72-13, Mohammed Sultan Road.
